Pfizer Will Seek US Approval For a Vaccine Jab to Help Children Between 6 Months and 5 Years in November

Pfizer and BioNTech want to get approval from the FDA for their coronavirus vaccine. They plan to do this in November. The vaccine will be used by children between 6 months and 5 years old.

Pfizer had previously said it planned to apply for U.S. approval for the jab for children aged 5-11 in early October, but after speaking at the Morgan Stanley Global Healthcare Conference, D’Amelio said they will also be applying to give it to children aged 6 months-5 years “in the weeks shortly thereafter” if all of the data is positive.

In August, the FDA approved the BioNTech/Pfizer vaccine. It is the first COVID-19 vaccine to be fully licensed for use in the United States.

In Europe, The Moderna vaccines have been authorized by the European Medicines Agency for children over 12.
